A new mobility innovation cluster in Torslanda, Gothenburg, will further strengthen Sweden's competitiveness within sustainable mobility. Volvo Cars is the driving force behind this collaborative venture, together with real estate companies Next Step Group and Vectura Fastigheter, supported by the City of Gothenburg.
Gothenburg is a hub for innovation and at the forefront of sustainable industry. Now a battery cluster is taking shape, characterised by something that has served the region well: collaboration. Near Volvo Car's production plant and new battery assembly factory in Torslanda, a gigafactory is under construction.
The current plans entail the expansion of the Gothenburg Green City Zone initiative to include Torslanda as well. The initiative is helping pave the way towards an emission-free transport system in Gothenburg. Businesses, academia and public actors are testing new innovative solutions that can be quickly scaled up.
