Hamburg is a leader in the implementation of urban green roof projects. Find out about funding, scale, and Hamburg's most ambitious green roof project - the soon-to-be-constructed rooftop gardens on the St. Pauli Bunker.
Plans for an elaborate network of green areas on top of the grey ramparts were ratified in 2017. When it comes to green roofs, Hamburg has taken a leading role among major German and European cities: no less than 70% of all suitable rooftops are to be topped with vegetation.
