Brunei Signs Landmark Solar Energy Agreements | US ABC
The solar project aims to boost Brunei''s renewable energy capacity and support the national target of achieving 30 percent renewable energy mix by 2035. This marks Brunei''s
This milestone represents Brunei Darussalam's largest government-led solar project to date and the first large-scale solar initiative under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP). It underscores the nation's commitment to diversifying its energy mix and pursuing low-carbon development as part of its decarbonisation agenda.
The country is focusing on developing downstream energy industries by maximising economic spin-of potential from upstream production and assets. Brunei Darussalam aims to reduce its energy intensity by 45% in 2035 from the baseline year of 2005, in line with its regional commitment to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.
The 200 MW target by 2025 will mostly be from large-scale ground-mounted and floating solar PV. Brunei Darussalam has implemented several initiatives and activities to achieve 45% energy intensity reduction by 2035.
