Presently, ASEAN boasts 28 GW of large utility-scale solar and wind power, contributing 9 percent to the region's total electricity capacity. Vietnam makes another appearance on this list with the Dau Tieng Solar Power Complex, the largest solar project in Southeast Asia. Located in Tay Ninh province, this complex has a combined capacity of 420 MW and spans over 540 hectares.

Beijing, 4 July – Asian countries now make up five of the top ten solar-powered economies thanks to a decade of growth that has enabled a number of Asia's biggest economies to significantly expand their solar capacity. A decade ago, only two countries in Asia made it to the list, while European countries dominated the top of the solar ranking.
