VILNIUS ENERGY STORAGE LOW TEMPERATURE LITHIUM
In cooperation with the start-up Africa GreenTec, TESVOLT is supplying lithium storage systems for 50 solar containers with a total capacity of 3 megawatt hours (MWh), enabling a reliable
Located near Vilnius, this project will be the country's first commercial battery storage facility and is expected to increase Lithuania's total storage capacity by approximately 50%. The system is scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2025.
Due to their considerable theoretical specific capacity, lithium-sulfur batteries exhibit significant potential for utilization in energy storage systems operating at low temperatures.
Although the average electricity consumption in Lithuania is around 1500 megawatts, the installed capacity of both solar and wind power plants is expected to exceed 2000 megawatts in 2025, enabling surplus electricity to be stored and supplied to consumers during peak hours.”
Other than that, Li-S batteries are a particularly appealing low-temperature battery system because they have a high energy density and can sustain that density in low-temperature conditions. The current market size of Li-S batteries is small due to the unique application scenarios.
